Sun Dogs

I was going to post something different today, but this poem is so much more appropriate today as I looked into the sky while driving home to see a pair of sun dogs enveloping the sun. I’m afraid I don’t have a photo to go with this but hopefully you will imagine what I see in this poem.

Sun Dogs

Three bodies from one source
Sign of the cross upon my heart 
Light in the winter dredges
Hope in a world of strife

Dogs dance by the side of the sun
Dogs that sparkle in vivid colors
Crystals form a dazzling display
Brightening the day and minds below

Snow and ice abound on earth
Frigid temps in the air
Crackly earth below footsteps
Light so brilliant on a winterscape
